DEATH CALLS MRS. LEESON
After an illness of several months of diseases incident to old age, Mrs. A. A. Leeson departed this life at her home near Summers on Wednesday morning of last week. Mrs. Leeson was seventy-five years old and leaves two daughters, Mrs. D. F. F. Randolph and Mrs. T. B. Smith, both of Salem, her husband having died several years ago. The body was removed to Salem and kept there at the home of Mrs. Randolph over night. From there it was taken to New Martinsville, the early home of the deceased lady, where the funeral was held and the where body laid to rest. Mrs. Leeson had many warm friends who are very sorry to hear of her death.
OBITUARY
Mrs. Avalyne A. Wise Leeson was born at New Martinsville, W. Va., in the year 1837, and died at her home in Summers, Doddridge County, W. Va., Oct. 11, 1911, after an illness of about two years with difficulties incident to advanced years.
In young womanhood she was married to Dr. John Daugherty, of Ohio. To this union one child was born, Gertrude, now Mrs. D. F. F. Randolph, of Salem. When Mrs. Randolph was six months old, Dr. Daugherty died. After a time the widowed mother was married to Jacob Leeson. Of this union two children came--a son, who died at about five years of age, and a daughter, Annie, who is now Mrs. T. B. Smith of Salem. About twenty-four years ago Mrs. Leeson was again left a widow. At fourteen years of age the subject of this sketch experienced a change of heart and life and became a member of the M. E. Church, South, at New Martinsville. After her second marriage she changed her membership to the M. P. church at Harmony, where her membership was held at the time of her death.
A highly respected woman of strong personality--a loving mother is gone from this life of service to the life of rewards. The tender ministrations of loving daughters and medical skill could no longer hold the spirit in its crumbling tenement of clay. It took its flight, leaving sorrowing hearts behind to wait the Master's call.
The funeral was held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. D. F. F. Randolph. Interment was made at New Martinsville, her girlhood home.
