James McKinley App, 69, of Rockhill Furnace died Thursday, December 2, 1965, at 4:30 a.m. in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Altoona. He had been seriously ill for the past four months.

Born April 13, 1896, in Rockhill Furnace, he was a son of John and Louise (Whitsel) App. He was united in marriage to Esther Barger of Lewistown. The ceremony was performed at Hagerstown, Md. on February 24, 1924.

His wife survives, along with two daughters, Mrs. Max (Georgia) Rinker and Mrs. Richard (Peggy) Potts, both of Orbisonia. There are three grandchildren.

Also surviving are a half-brother, the Rev. Donald App, Dayton, Ohio and one half-sister, Mrs. Anna Gifford, Lockport, N.Y. One sister preceded him in death.

The deceased was a member of the Orbisonia EUB Church.

He was a past commander of the Madden-Wennick Post No. 518, American Legion of Orbisonia and belonged to the Veterans of World War I, Juniata Valley Barracks No. 1433.

He was active in baseball and other athletic activities in his community.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 5, at 2 p.m. from the Ott funeral home, Orbisonia. The Rev. David Emerson, of Saxton R.D. will officiate. Interment will be made in the I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery at Rockhill Furnace. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Friday until the hour of the services on Sunday. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Madden-Wennick Post.
