Gilberto "Gil" Montoya, 83, of Las Vegas, passed away Friday, June 12, 2009. He was born Sept. 20, 1925, in Lumberton, N.M., and was as 34-year resident of Nevada.

Gil retired as chief master sergeant from the U.S. Air Force and served during World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

Gil is survived by his wife, of 56 years, Mary "Molly" Montoya; daughter, Sharon Montoya of Henderson; and son, David Montoya of Las Vegas.

Visitation will be 5-6 p.m., with Rosary following, both at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Service will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 18, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4490 Mountain Vista.

Burial will follow at noon, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd. Donations can be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice.
