Kevin Michael Kelly, age 59, passed away on June 1st, after a long illness. He was a musician, song-writer, producer and entrepreneur. He was born in Estherville, Iowa, grew up on Lake West Okoboji and graduated from Spirit Lake High School in 1968. He attended the University of Iowa and graduated from there with a B.A. in Communications and was working toward a Masters in Instructional Design there. Kevin's extensive musical and audio-visual production work included assisting many human services and non-profit agencies including Dum Dum Day Care Center, Free Medical Clinic, the Rape Victim Advocacy Program and Public Access T.V. Kevin was an accomplished bass player, having played professionally in bands such as Interstate 80, The Friendly Stranger, TCB, Cowboy Gypsies and many more. He wrote and produced his own music as well as performing the work of others. He operated TurboGlide, a Midwest recording studio and DJ Service for many years.
Kevin is preceded in death by parents Patrick Kelly of Okoboji, Margaret Maine Kelly of Iowa City and, sister, Sheila Kelly of Honolulu, Hawaii. Kevin is survived by a daughter, Colleen Kelly and grandson, Connor of Kansas City, Missouri. He has four brothers, Patrick, Sean and Timothy of CA, Brian of FL, and two sisters, Terry of Hawaii and Bridget of New Mexico. Kevin is also survived by numerous friends, extended family, community members and many other fellow musicians.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to the Salvation Army or the Wesley Center of Iowa City.

The Kelly Family would like to extend heart-felt thanks to Karla Miller, Jean Bott, Kirk Weitzel, and all other care-givers who supported Kevin during his extended illness over the last couple of years.
