Funeral services for Mr. Malcolm S. Melton, age 93, of Cookeville formerly of Overton County will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 2, 2013 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home in Livingston with Bro. Danny Hembree officiating. Burial will be in the Overton County Memorial Gardens in Livingston. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening 4 - 9 p.m.
Mr. Melton passed away on September 29, 2013 at his home. He was born December 7, 1919 in Overton County to the late John Edgar & Bonza Garrett Melton. He was the owner of a grocery store.
He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Gainesboro and a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie Melton of Cookeville; son, Joseph Melton of Allons; daughter, Susan Richardson of Bloomington Springs, TN; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Walter Quinn Melton of Odessa, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife: Josephine Murray Melton, brothers: Robert & Benton Melton, and a sister: Bertha Arney.
