Final Rites Held
Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Rebecca Townsend, 73, of 110 West Minnesota Street, Brookhaven, were held June 10 at 2 p.m. from Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Easthaven Cemetery. The Rev. Charles Dampeer and the Rev. Wiley Holland conducted the services. Mrs. Townsend died June 9 in King's Daughters Hospital.
A native Lincoln Countian, Mrs. Townsend was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Den Pennington. She was a member of Easthaven Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Ira H. Townsend; a daughter, Mrs. Ola Ree Eagen; four sisters, Mrs. Bertie Mae Smith, Mrs. Estella Martin, Mrs. Carrie Lee Owens and Mrs. Alice Mason., all of Brookhaven; two brothers; Norva and Troy Pennington, of Brookhaven. She is also survived by one grandchild and two great - grandchildren.
Called Aunt Becky and Sugh.
Ordered her shoes from Cinderella shoe shop, had very small feet.
Made the best tea cakes in the world.
Awesome housekeeper.
Never talked about anyone, kind to everyone.
Never learned to drive a car.
Raised me
