Maggie Glasscock Banks, 83, of Elmer Hayes Road, Mosheim, died Monday morning at Life Care Center of Greeneville, where she had been a resident for more than eight years.

She was a homemaker and the widow of Donald Banks, her husband of 62 years who died April 20, 2007.

Mrs. Banks was a member of Carpenter's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for a number of years.

Survivors include five children and their spouses: John and Ruby Glasscock and Claudia and Tommy Doud, all of Bulls Gap, Sandra Bell of Mosheim, Mack Donald Banks Jr. and his wife, Sandra, of Greeneville, and Janet and Dennis McIntosh of Bulls Gap; eight grandchildren: Donna Evans, Jimmy Crittenden, Donald Swatzell, Jackie Bell, Jeffrey Bell, Junior McIntosh, Julie Beach, and Jeremiah Banks; 13 great-grandchildren; four sisters and brothers-in-law: Anna Mae and Andy McCamey, and Pearl and Bobby Wilburn, all of Mohawk, Frances and Roscoe Reedy of Mosheim, and Linda and Randy Williams of Baileyton; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Solon and Nora Glasscock; two sisters: Mary Lou Black and Sarah Kate Glasscock; and one brother: Grant Glasscock.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today at Rose Hill Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at Carpenter's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with interment to follow in Willoughby Cemetery.

The Rev. Sonny Beaver and the Rev. Jim Trent will officiate.

The body will be taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Donald Swatzell, Jackie Bell, Jeff Bell, Junior McIntosh, Jeremiah Banks, and Chip Evans.

Honorary pallbearers will be the nurses and staffs of Smoky Mountain Hospice and Life Care Center of Greeneville, and two special nurses: Diane Buyers and Debra Evans.
