Frederick Hartenberger


Frederick Jacob Hartenberger, retired carpenter, passed away at his home, 510 South Magnolia at 11:30 p.m. Monday night with heat exhaustion. Mr. Hartenberger has been a resident of Newton 49 years.

Frederick Hartenberger, son of Peter Hartenberger and Sophia Milltr Hartenberger, was born December 13, 1854 at Chester, Illinois, making him 79 years, seven months and seventeen days at the time of his death. In 1882, Mr. Hartenberger was married to Anna Brinkman to which union three children were born: Edward Hartenberger who resides in Newton, Oscar J. Hartenberger of Kansas City, Missouri and Mrs. Esther Radefeld of Newton. One sister, Mrs. Anna Krans of Haven, Kansas, remains.

The deceased was not affiliated with any lodge but was a faithful member of the Zion Lutheran church, from which place the funeral service will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2:30 by the Rev. Droegmuller, pastor of the church. There will be a short service at 2:00 at the home for relatives. Interment will be in the Greenwood cemetery.

The body will be taken from the Sprinker mortuary to the home on Thursday morning.
