Wife of James Simon Cunningham. Daughter of James L and Kate (Felton) Dukenfield and sister of W.C. Fields. May was a performing artist in New York stage ballets, where she met her husband.

MRS. JAMES S. CUNNINGHAM
Private services for Mrs. May Cunningham, 69, of 58 Delaware Avenue, Penns Grove, were held yesterday from the Ashcraft Funeral Home in Penns Grove. The Rev. Albert Lang officiated, and burial was in Lawnside Cemetery, Woodstown.

Mrs. Cunningham died Friday after a long illness. Born in Philadelphia, she is survived by her husband, James S.; brothers, Leroy Dukenfield, Philadelphia, and Walter Dukenfield, Chiselhurst, N.J., and a sister, Mrs. Adell Smith, Oaklyn. The late well-known movie actor, W. C. Fields, was a brother also.

CONTRIBUTOR'S NOTE: In the will of W.C.Fields, he left his sister Elsie May Cunningham, the amount of $500. Perhaps Elsie May was her birth name.
