He received his education from the Narka Public Schools.
He worked for the Rock Island Railroad early in his life, and then became a carpenter.
He lived his entire life in the Narka and Munden communities.
He was united in marriage to Dorothy Masten on July 28, 1929, at Belleville, Kansas, and to this union eleven children were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Dorothy in 1972, an infant son and two infant daughters, three brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by six sons, Robert of Sparta, Missouri, John William of Kansas City, Kansas, Douglas of Cumby, Texas, Donald of Cresco, Iowa, Larry of Wichita, Kansas, Jerry of Lewis, Iowa, and two daughters, Elaine of Wichita, Kansas, and Janet of Parsons, Kansas, 21 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, a brother, Max Hudson of Munden, Kansas, and a sister, Lorene Strnad of Ignasio, Colorado.
Funeral services were held on Friday, April 17, 1998, at the United Methodist Church, Munden, Kansas, with Rev. Marion Walker officiating.
Burial was made in the Ida Cemetery, Munden, Kansas.
