Mrs Russell Stevenson, who was recently operated upon for a Rose cancer, is lying dangerously ill. The operation was regarded as eminently successful at the time but Mrs Stevenson has been a sufferer from heart trouble for some time and a general breaking down precipitated by the operation is the cause of her present condition.

Amanda Henrietta, wife of Russell Stevenson, died yesterday morning after an illness of several years duration which developed into a critical state about 2 weeks ago. At that time Mrs Stevenson was operated upon for a cancer by Dr SM Mosgrove.
Mrs Stevenson was born April 25, 1843 and was the youngest of 11 daughters of the late Henry and Ruth Powell, pioneer residents of this county, and was at the time of her death the only surviving member of the family. She was united in marriage to Russell Stevenson June 24, 1862 and 6 children were born to the union, three having died in infancy. Mrs Ruth L Jahrus of Tawas City, MI; William C Stevenson of Tippecanoe City; and Mrs Bertha M Waler of Grand Marais, MI; together with their father survive.

Russell Stevenson, rural carrier on Route No 3, has tendered his resignation to Postmaster Murphey to be forwarded. The resignation is to take effect as soon as a successor is chosen. Since the death of his wife, Mr Stevenson has expressed a desire to go to Michigan to make his home with his daughters and for that reason he resigned.
