Lula Bythwood-Strawter, 67 year old resident of Stuart (Rio), FL and former resident of Blountstown, FL died in Stuart, FL. She moved to Martin County from Blounstown in 1959. She was born to the parents of Willie D. Bythwood, Sr. and Jeldrine Kimble-Battle in Orlando, FL.

Her primary education was completed in the public schools of Orange County, FL. She attended Mayhall High School in Blountstown, FL and Stuart Training School in Martin County.

Lula was a former member of the Stuart Church of God where she served as the church clerk and also sang in the choir. At the time of her death she was a member of the Lake Street Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie D. Bythwood, Sr. and Jeraldine Kimble-Battle; her step-father, Johnny Lee Battle; siblings, Willie D. Bythwood, Jr., Leonard C. Battle, Curtis Riggins and Lorene Battle; her husband, Willie Arthur Strawter and a daughter, Margaret Laverne Williams.

Survivors include: sons, Gregory Allen Bythwood (Vickie) of Decatur, GA amd Stephon Battle (Michelle) of Carrollton, GA; daughters, Bernice Jackson (Lincoln) and Emma Jean Smith of College Park, GA; brothers, Allen Bythwood (Brenda) of Fort Pierce, FL, Phillip Bythwood (Charlotte) of Sacramento, CA, Freddie Davis of Cerritos, CA, Fredrick Battle of Stuart, FL and Wilford Battle of Denver, CO; sisters, Laura Moore of Tallahassee, FL, Ida Crist (McKinley) of Stuart, FL, Mary Hammer (Doug) of Aurora, CO, Rita Battle and Joann Battle of Stuart, FL; 21 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; six godchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends including the parishioners of the Lake Street Church of Christ and the Church of God.

Services: A celebration of life has been scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 2009, 11am at Saint Paul A.M.E. Church in Stuart with Bishop John A. Thorne, officiating. Burial will follow at Fernhill Memorial Gardens in Stuart. Thorne's Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
