Richard Leroy Epperly of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died early Saturday morning, June 20, 2009, at his home in Blackwell at the age of 72 years.

Richard Leroy Epperly was born on January 31, 1937, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Jesse Cleveland and Della Emma (Davis) Epperly. He grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Public Schools. Following his education he worked for Otasco, Western Auto and McClarnon's TV and Appliance in Blackwell. He was a longtime member of the Blackwell Community Church. He enjoyed riding his scooter, visiting the doughnut shop and collecting coins.

He is survived by two sisters, Izola Schoonover of Arkansas City, Kansas, and Elizabeth Whittenburg of Wetumpka, Alabama; two brothers, Bob Epperly of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Ralph Epperly of Braman, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Glen, Charles and his twin brother Kenneth Epperly; and a sister, Barbara Smith.

Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m, Thursday, June 25th in the Blackwell Cemetery with the Rev. Art Moraine of Blackwell and Rev. Jim Flick of Colby, Kansas, officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Josh Tennison, Paul Epperly, Bobby Epperly, Joseph Luong, Roger Epperly and Johnny Schoonover. Honorary casketbearers will be his nephews. (TRON-#47272608)
