Hyde Park, Utah: Venice Clarissa Olson Larsen, 89 years and 5 months, died on Saturday, February 12, 2005, at her home in Hyde Park, Utah. She was preceeded in death by her parents and all of her brothers and sisters: Elaine, Hilva, Geneva, Selma, Rulon, Legrande, Ruby, Delmer, Merlin, and Stanley, and her grandson, Eric Gustaf Harris.

She was born on September 12, 1915 at Station Creek (Mink Creek), Idaho. Venice married Paul Bybee Larsen, in the Salt Lake Temple on September 6, 1938. They moved to Lansing, Michigan, where Paul earned his Masters Degree. They also lived in New Jersey, Texas, Idaho and Maryland before settling in Cache Valley, where Paul taught at Utah State University. Hyde Park has been their home for over 55 years.

Venice loved people and made friends easily. She was raised in Idaho, living on a ranch with her Swedish immigrant parents. She loved helping people. She was known for her good cooking and baking.

Venice was known as "The flower lady." For more than 50 years, she created beautiful floral arrangements for her church.

Her bright smile cheered many hearts. She is remembered for her many years of kind and generous service. She served her church and community in a variety of ministries and civic volunteer efforts.

She is surivived by her husband Paul; her daughters, Nancy Jean and Carol Lee and her husband, Frank O. (Buddy) Harris of Hyde Park; her son, Jerry Legrand and his wife Laurel (Jones) of Jackson, Michigan; her grandchildren; Lowell and Natalee (Brown) Harris of Richmond, Texas; Kyle and Bonnie (Lee) Harris of Hyde Park; Clarissa Harris of Hyde Park; Brita and Nathan Croft of Salt Lake City; Peter Harris of Hyde Park; Ingrid and Thomas Davis of Logan; Tamara and Joshua Little of Portage, Michigan; Teresa and Scott Hair of Sunnyvale, California, Jolyn Larsen and fiance, Andrew of Provo, and Julia and Michael Reynolds of Provo; great-grandchildren; Jonah and Olivia Little, Jackson Harris, plus Julia's baby due in May, and Brita's baby due in July, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Funeral service was held Feb. 18, 2005 in the Hyde Park Stake Center, conducted by Bishop Forrest Blair. A viewing was held the evening prior to the funeral.

Olson, b. 12 Jan 1878, Vestra Vingaker, Sodermanland, Sweden; d. 21 Jan 1953, Preston, Franklin County, ID; and Marie Elizabeth Peterson, b. 22 Dec 1877, Soder Spanga, Vestra Vingaker, Sodermanland, Sweden; d. 29 Jan 1928, Logan, Cache County, UT. Gustaf and Vestra were married 20 Dec 1899, Logan Temple, Cache County, UT. They are buried in the Providence Cemetery, Cache County, UT. Headstones: E. Gustaf Olson and Elizabeth P. Olson.
