LIFE HISTORY OF MRS. THOMAS OLSON
Melina Elizabeth, daughter of John C. and Mary Filbert, was born near Peoria, Ill. Jan 21, 1862, and departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Roy Herbert of Delphos, Sunday evening Jan 25, 1942, at the age of 80 years and 4 days.
She came with her parents to Taylor county when 10 years of age. She was united in marriage to Thomas C. Olson, May 4, 1881, and to this union five children were born. Her husband and one daughter, Grace, preceded her in death.
They moved to Ellston, Ia., in 1911 which place has been her home since.
She is survived by one son, Charles C. of Ellston; three daughters, Mrs. Lela Stewart of Ellston, Mrs. Isabel Herbert of Delphos; and Mrs. Elizabeth Eighme of Creston; eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Underwood of Sharpsburg, and Mrs. Les Brooks of Sask. Canada; three brothers Frank Filbert of Ellendale, N. D.; John Filbert of Sharpsburg, and Ed Filbert of Pueblo, Colo., and a host of relatives and friends.
She united with the Methodist church early in life and lived a consistent Christian life.
Funeral Services were held Wednesday afternoon at one o'clock at the Ellston Methodist Church. The Rev. Herman S. Hochmeith conducted services and burial was made in the Fairview Cemetery at Lenox.
