Mrs. Josephine Bernier, 83, of River Road, Preston, widow of Philias Bernier, formerly of Plainfield and Jewett City, died Saturday in Norwich. Born in Taftville section April 1, 1892, a daughter of the late Emilien and Caroline (Paquette) Brochu, she lived in Plainfield for many years, but for the past 40 years had resided in Jewett City. In June of 1945 she was married in St. Mary Church, Jewett City, to Philias Bernier, who died in 1972. Mrs. Bernier was a member of St. Mary Church. Survivors include one son, Wilfred Gervais of Brooklyn, Conn., five daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Marie Rose) Zajac of Jewett City, Mrs. Louis (Clareine) Brochu of Lisbon, Mrs. Stanley (Ozilda) Koziol of Jewett City; Mrs. Stephen (Caroline) Cholewa of Jewett City, and Mrs. John (Rita) Przyborowski of Preston; one sister, Mrs. Elmira Derusha of Plainfield; 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
