Mrs. Gracie Watson, 96, former resident of West Fork Road, Murray, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at 2:12 a.m. at West View Nursing Home.

She was the oldest member of Spring Creek Baptist Church having been a member for 86 years.

Her husband, Lexie Watson, to whom she was married Nov. 20, 1920, died in 1986. Also preceding her in death were a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Johnson Watson, great-grandson, Logan Watson, and two brothers, J.D. Jones and Ewing Jones. Born Sept. 21, 1904, in Murray, she was the daughter of the late Aaron H. Jones and Willie Lee Harris Jones.

Survivors include two sons, Bobby Gene Watson and wife, Jo, and Dwight Watson; seven grandchildren, Ms. Jackie Morris, Mrs. Judy Overbey and husband, Don, Mike Watson, Mrs. Yvette Pyle and husband, Billy, Jobeth England and husband, Larry, Dan Watson and wife, Gail, and Dave Watson and wife, Lesa, all of Murray; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Spring Creek Baptist Church. The Rev. Hal Shipley and the Rev. Terry Powell will officiate. Burial will follow in Spring Creek Cemetery.
