Aged Lady Dies Paralysis is Cause

At age of 83 years and 9 months, Mrs. Cynthia Harmon passed to the great beyond.

Mrs. Cynthia Harmon died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. R. Williams of this village last Monday afternoon at 12:45. Mrs. Harmon complained of not feeling well Thursday morning of last week and during the day was stricken with paralysis. She never regained consciousness.

Deceased was born in New York state on March 18, 1837, moving with her parents to Ohio at the age of 4 years. Here she spent her childhood days.

In the year 1853 she became the wife of James Wilson and to this union were born 9 children, 4 boys and 5 girls; H. J. Wilson of Hakensack, Minn., Calvin of Bismarck, N. D., Martha Myers, who died in 1892, Mrs. C. R. Williams of Mora, Joseph who died at the age of 13, Anna Bragg of Hamihime, Sask, Can., Ellen McFagget of Waterville, ME., and James of Bismarck, ND.

James Wilson died at Pelican Rapids, Minn., in 1881.

In 1885 she was married to J. H. Harmon at McCauleyville, Wilkin County, coming to Mora in 1895 to make their home. Mr. Harmon died in 1907.

Mrs. Harmon was the grandmother of 43 children, 38 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren.

Deceased was a woman with a wide acquaintance, always jolly and willing to lend a helping hand in time of need. During the late war a large portion of her time was spent in knitting for the boys who were called into service.

She will be missed not only by relatives, but by all the citizens of this county.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the house and from the Presbyterian church at 3:30, Rev. W. H. E. Strate officiating.

Interment was made in Oakwood Cemetery.

Cynthia Sillsby was born in March 1837 in New York (as per the 1900 Census of Kanabec, Kanabec Co., MN), the daughter of Jesse and Margaret Sillsby.
In 1850 the family was living in Clay, Jones Co., Iowa.

About 1852 Cynthia married James Wilson and bore him ten children between 1853 and 1877: Hiram, Calvin, Martha, Sarah, Joseph, and Margaret (enumerated in the 1870 Census of Cono, Buchanan Co., Iowa), and Annie, Mary, Helen and James, (enumerated in the 1885 Census of McCauleyville, Wilkin Co., MN).
James Wilson died in 1882 and is buried in Pelican Rapids, MN.

Cynthia then married, as his second wife, James H. Harmon, whom she also outlived, dying December 6, 1920 in Kanabec County, Minnesota.
