The son of John & Elizabeth Ann Fralich, in 1860 he was a laborer living with his parents in Conestoga Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Lancaster County June 18, 1863, mustered into federal service there January 6 as a private with Co. I, 20th Pennsylvania Cavalry (181st Pa), and honorably discharged with his company January 6, 1864.

His brother Aaron, also a veteran, is buried in Greenwood Cemetery as "Fralich."
