Schofield Beeler was the son of David Beeler and Nancy Jane Stiner. He was born on the family farm in Union County. He was the only child in the family to persue a higher education and attended American Temperance College where he met his future wife Mary Burgess. Schofield and Mary made their home on the family farm and had 15 children only 5 of which survived to adulthood. Their 10 children who either died at birth or only lived a few short months or years are buried in the D.R. Beeler Cemetery in Sharps Chapel. TVA forced all families along the Powell and Clinch rivers to sell their land so Grandpa and Grandma purchased a farm in Greenback where they lived until thier deaths. The top picture is of Grandpa with his children. From left to right Schofield, David Dewey, Nancy Effie, Beulah, Tell, and Edna Hadley (my grandmother). All of Schofield and Mary's children are now linked thanks to the kind efforts of contributor Lo Marie. She found Dewey and his wife's obits and made memorials for them then made the transfers to me. I appreciate her efforts very much!
