Spouse of Nathaniel Wilkinson Buried in Omaha, Nebraska
History - Lydia Daines was born in Cratfield, Suffolk, England, March 16, 1806. She was 25 when she married Nathaniel Wilkinson 16 October 1831. They had four children, Lydia, William and another daughter and another son.
The Mormons changed their lives forever. Records show that Lydia Daines Wilkinson attended one of the first meetings held by the Mormon missionaries in that area and after hearing their message was converted to it's truthfulness.
Lydia was the first lady to be baptized in that area, in fact it was the same day June 28, 1851 that James Hurren and George Balls Reeder were baptized. Lydia was always kind to the Elders in her home.
In 1855 Lydia and Nathaniel and their children began their journal to Zion. Their daughter, Lydia, was about 15 years old. They arrived in New York on New Years Day, 1856. After living in New Jersey for 3 years the moved to Omaho, Nebraska. Nathaniel died there in the fall of 1859 and a son and a daughter got married.
Lydia and her two children, Lydia and William, went on to Utah with the Seamons family. They all came directly to Hyde Park where Robert Daines lived. (There is some confusion as to whether Robert was a brother or a son of Lydia Daines, perhaps born out of wedlock.) The next Spring, the three young people soon provided a log home for the family in Hyde Park.
Robert Daines was Lydia's son previous to her marriage. He was not a brother.
