Utica Daily Press, Friday, Nov. 9, 1962 ~ EARL F. ABEL - Nelliston — Earl F. Abel, 67, a former Arkell and Smith employee, died Wednesday in Johnstown Hospital. He was a native of Ephratah, son of Arthur R Abel and Lena Saltsman Abel, and had lived in Nelliston since 1948. He worked for Arkell and Smith until retiring in 1959 when the firm moved to Hudson Falls. He married Marion K. Waufle. He was a member of the Ephratah Reformed Church and Fort Plain Masonic Lodge. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Sherwood of Sammonsville, Clark. Ephratah; two daughters, Mrs. Radford Failing, Caroga Lake; Mrs. Raymond Angiers, Tully; two stepdaughters; Mrs.Richard Carter, St. Johnsville; Mrs. Kenneth Jones. Fort Hunter and three stepsons, Albert Waufle Jr., Fort Plain; Ivan Waufle, St. Johnsville, and Richard Waufle, Nelliston. The funeral will be at 2 tomorrow from the Swartz Funeral Home, Fort Plain with the Rev. Robert Geddes, pastor of Ephratah Reformed Church, officiating. Burial will be in Ephratah Rural Cemetery. The Masons will conduct a ritualistic service at 8 tonight.
