Gladys Doan Died February 28, 2004, at Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas. She was born April 29, 1929, in Viper, Kentucky, to pearl and Maggie (Campbell) Adams. Gladys spent her childhood in Hayard, Kentucky. As a young adult she trained and practiced as a licensed practical nurse in Windsor, Ontario, later moving to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she was employed as a restaurant and catering manager. On April 1972 she married Glen Doan in Richfield, Minnesota, Where they made their home until 1985 when they moved to Clinton. In September 1992, a year after the death of her husband, Glen, Gladys underwent a successful heart transplant at KU Medical Center. Gladys enjoyed the well-deserved reputation as a gourment cook who loved to entertain friends. She was a member and involved in the life of Holy Rosary Parish and a member and supporter of the Henry County Museum and Historical Society. Gladys leaves many friends, two of whom she credited with a major influence in her life and with whom she maintained a lifelong friendship, Edna Cornett, Chicago, Illinois, and Mary Ottenbriet, Windsor, Ontario.
Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, a stepson, Mark Doan, and two brothers. Gladys leaves three stepsons, Gary Doan, Keith Doan(Marlene) and Eric Doan; a stepdaughter, Pam Doan; Stepdaughter-in-law, Denice Doan; 10 Step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandson, all of Minnesota; a sister-in-law, Marcheta Bartlett, Clinton; a brother-in-law, Linville Doan, Finland, Minnesota; three brothers, Delphus Adams and Hershel Adams of Jeff, Kentucky, and Felix Adams, Jacksonville, Arkansas.
Funeral mass was held at Holy Rosay Catholic Church, Clinton, Wednesday, March 3.
Burial was in Englewood Cemetery, Clinton,
