Mt. Zion-Jim E. "Tennessee" Gregory, 80, of Mt. Zion, passed away at 6:48 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2009 at his residence with his family by his side.

Per his wishes cremation rites will be accorded. Memorial services to celebrate Jim's life will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday June 23, 2009 at Faith Outreach Center, one mile west of the Moweaqua Golf Course, with Pastor Robert Phillips officiating. The family requests casual attire. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family to make a donation in Jim's honor to a children's hospital of their choice. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with these arrangements. Online condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.gracelandfairlawn.com.

James was born August 6, 1928 in Springfield, Tennessee the son of Elliott and Dolly (Hutichison) Gregory. He was the owner and operator of Gregory Paint and Decorating for forty years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge. Jim enjoyed golf, fishing, playing cards, and telling stories.

He leaves behind his daughter; Debbie Helm of Mt. Zion, son; Jim Gregory and wife Cheryl of Decatur, brother; Clifford Gregory of Gallatin, Tennessee, sister; Sharron Miller of West Moreland, Tennessee, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, and one sister.

Jim Gregory and Robert E.Lee (Mack)McManigell were the best of friends.Their friendship lasted many years.Jim would visit the McManigell family in Florida every January.He will be missed very much.
