Mr. Decker was born in Campbell County, Kentucky, on October 17, 1918, a son of the late Matthew John Decker and Elena Bechtold Decker. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II. Mr. Decker moved to Florida in 1954 from Dayton, Kentucky, and had lived in Blairsville since October of 1991, coming from Melborne, Florida. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Blairsville; and a member of the Knights of Columbus. After World War II, Mr. Decker worked for the Bell Telephone Company in Covington, Kentucky for about ten years. Then he began working with RCA Service Company at Cape Canaveral where he was an electronic technician.
