William Edmond DOWDY, 90, died Nov. 4 in a hospital. He was a native of Currituck County. He retired from Dew's Island Hunting Lodge as a caretaker and guide. He was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Crain DOWDY; three daughters: Margaret MATTHEWS of Aydlett, Ruby MOSTAKA and Grace CUMMINGS, both of Springfield, Illinois; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Mount Zion United Methodist Church by the Rev. Emmett McCALL. Burial will be in Aydlett Cemetery. Twiford's Memorial Chapel in Elizabeth City is handling arrangements.
