He married Lucinda Duggan, then Tennessee Callen/Boyd and then Julia Baker/Davis. His parents were Frederick Rose, Jr and Katherine Eaton.

He was in the Confederate Army and served under General Sterling Price and General John Sappington Marmaduke, in the state of Arkansas, according to his widow, Julia Ann Davis Rose's application for Pension. He was a member of Company G, 14th (Powers) Arkansas Infantry Regiment-CSA. He enlisted at Yellville, Arkansas, July 12, 1861; left sick in Arkansas, April 3, 1862; dropped from the rolls, June 30, 1862.

His tombstone shows 1836-1915. His death certificate shows he was born Apr 19, 1835 in Illinois but his parents didn't live there then. It also shows he died June 28, 1914, family records shows June 20, 1914 and tombstone shows 1915. He died of Brights Disease.
