MOUNT AIRY, NC ~ Mrs. Irene Collins Tate, 68, 1766 W. Pine St., died early Wednesday morning at Northern Surry Hospital.


She was born in Henry County, Va. to William Henry and Ila McHone Collins.


She was a member of Full Gospel Tabernacle.


Surviving is her husband, Lawrence Tate; three daughters: Mrs. Ruby Pruitt and Mrs. Juanita Beverly, both of Mount Airy and Mrs. Emma Jean Harrell, Cana, Va.; one son, Carl Ray Tate, Mount Airy; 17 grand- children; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Frances Tesh, Mount Airy and Mary Lovill, Martinsville, Va.


Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Full Gospel Tabernacle by the Rev. John Fulk and the Rev. Mac Cassell. Burial will be in St. Paul Church of the Brethren cemetery in Cana, Va. The body will remain at Jones-Phillips Funeral Home in Mount Airy until time to be placed in the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
