MILES MIKKELSEN PASSES
Even though he was 91, Miles Mikkelsen could be seen almost every day walking to town from the Jim McKellars where he made his home. He made his last trip to town Tuesday. Wednesday he didn't feel so good and on Thursday he was persuaded to go to the hospital where he died Sunday morning.
Memorial services were held April 8 at the Braun Funeral Home with the Rev. Sheldon O. Price officiating. Mrs. Robert Bates sang "Just a Closer Walk with Thee" and the "Lords Prayer", accompanied by Earl Barnes.
Bearers were Wilbur Nelson, Otis Shoun, Paul Sells, Royal Pinkerton, Everett Watson and Howard Inabit. Internment was in the Cashmere Cemetery.
He was born in Denmark Oct. 5, 1872, and came to the United States when he was six months to live in Wisconsin. On Feb. 8. 1897, he married Clara Larson in North; Dakota where they farmed until coming to Cashmere in 1931. His wife died in 1943.
Before retiring he did carpenter work, in this area. He was a member of the Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his children, Roy and Lowell Mikkelsen and Mrs. James McKellar, all of Cashmere Morris Mikkelsen and Mrs. Roland Hughes, both of Wenatchee, Marvin Mikkelsen of North Dakota, Orvin Mikkelsen at Pullman and Dorothy Reitmeier of Tillamook, Oregon; 20 grandchild, 35 great grandchildren; halE sisters Mrs. R. A. McKellar, Cashmere, Mrs. Leon Schmitten, Chelan and Mrs. Roy Wilder, Wenatchee, and two half-brothers, Norman Mikkelsen of Long View, Herman Mikkelsen, Tacoma, Wn.
