Calloway Cordle, husband of Selena (m. 12/09/1847), served in the Civil War. Military records indicate Calloway was hospitalized in September 1864 and died July 24, 1865. We have been unable to find his buriel place which has led to speculation maybe he never returned from the war, since no grave marker can be found for him near family members. We have documents indicating Selena applied for a pension which was denied because Calloway died of cancer, not war injuries.
After the death of Calloway, Selena some how acquired a large farm in Texas Valley and donated the land for Sand Springs Church, Her son, William, pastored that church several times. Calloway and Selena were the parents to five children (William Calloway, Cyrenious Rena, John W., Calvin C. and Martha Emma). (Taken from "The Cordle Family History 1759 - 1986")
