Mrs. Zipperer was born in Moncks Corner, a daughter of Napoleon P. Sturgeon and Mildred Caroline Walling Sturgeon. She was a graduate of Winthrop College. She was a founder and first president of the North Charleston Jaycettes. She was a charter member of Cooper River Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Retherford E. Zipperer; two sons, Frank E. Zipperer of Arlington and David B. Zipperer of New York; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
