2nd Lt, Turner A. Sowell, Jr., US Army Air Corp, was serving as a bombardier on a B-24 aircraft which took off from Marrakech Airport, French Morocco, at 11:55 pm GMT, 22 Nov 1943 on a ferrying mission to St. Mawgan, United Kingdom. The plane crashed shortly after take off.
