C.C. HUMPHREY DIES AFTER HEART ATTACK; RITES SET AT AVOCA:
C.C. Humphrey, 67, died at 11 p.m. Wednesday at his home, 1417 N. 16th St., of a heart attack. A farmer at Avoca until he moved to Abilene about 25 years ago. Mr. Humphrey worked as a carpenter around Abilene recently.
Funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Friday in the Avoca Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe V. Grimes, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Spring Creek Cemetery under the direction of Laughter-North Funeral Home. Close friends from Avoca will be the pallbearers.
Mr. Humphrey was born Nov. 20, 1888 at Walnut Springs. He was a member of the Baptist church at Avoca.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Jane Humphrey; six daughters, Mrs. Hilton (Oneita) White of Slaton, Mrs. Jack (Lillie) Dillard of Odessa, Mrs. Leon (Mary) Lefler of Fort Worth, Mrs. Ernest (Bobby) North of Wichita Falls, Mrs J. Q. (Ann) Rasure of Sulphur Springs, and Mrs. H.L. (Max) Gilbert of Wichita Falls; three sons, Jack of Dallas, Joe of Campbell, Calif., and Thomas of Wichita Falls; two brothers, Thomas D. of Dallas and Neal of Avoca; and three sisters, Mrs. (Annie) Robert Dunlap of 1257 Jeanette St., Mrs. Lee (Ada Belle) Bolin of Temple and Mrs. Carl (Lula) Grimes of Stamford. The body will lie in state at Laughter-North Funeral Home until time for the service.
