He was in Company H of the 2nd Regiment of the Oregon Mounted Volunteers commanded by Col. RL Williams. The company was called into action by the Territorial Governor.
He was a single farmer. Thomas was admitted to the Oregon Soldiers' Home in Roseburg on 1/11/1900 and died of paralysis 5 months later.
