Elizabeth Christine (Evans) Metcalf was born January 25, 1937 in Des Moines the daughter of Jack M. Evans and Bernidene (Scales) Evans.
Betty Chris graduated from Pleasantville High School with the Class of 1955 and earned her B.A. in Sociology from the University of Iowa. She lived in Garden City, Michigan and Mount Pleasant, Iowa before moving to Phoenix, Arizona. Betty Chris lived in Phoenix from 1972 to 1999, at which time she retired from Arizona Human Services Department. Following her retirement she moved back to Pleasantville.
In her spare time, Betty Chris enjoyed gardening, plants and needle point. She also found great joy in her many years of involvement with Community Theater in Arizona. She was a member of the Pleasantville Garden Club and the Pleasantville Alumni Association. Her greatest joy was her family, and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Betty Chris passed away on Friday, June 26, 2009 at her home at the age of 72 years, 5 months and 1 day.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Those left to honor her memory include two sons: Jon (Tracy) Metcalf of Topeka, KS and Jeffrey Douglas Metcalf of Phoenix, AZ; 6 grandchildren: Justin (Miranda), Metcalf Jordan Metcalf, Nicole (Jesse) Walker and Samantha, Crystal and Ellis Jon Metcalf; three sisters: Mary Jane McGuire and Jackie (Ken) Crone all of Pleasantville and Janet (Rich) Huck of Keenesburg, CO and many other family members and friends.
