Guy Graham Shaw Jr., MD, 94, passed away on June 26, 2009. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 30, at the Hillcrest Garden of Memory on Highway 22 between Hillsboro and Whitney.

Guy was born in Kaufman, Texas, the older of two sons born to the late Guy Graham Shaw and Rena Buatt Atkinson. Guy attended high school in Kaufman, and college at Texas A&M University. He graduated from Baylor College of Medicine on June 3, 1940.

He served in World War II as the Division Surgeon for the U.S. Army's 63rd Division in Europe.

He practiced medicine in Kaufman, from 1946 to 1971. In 1971, he retired and relocated to Lake Whitney, where he practiced anesthesiology for the next five years before fully retiring at the age of 62. He lived at Lake Whitney until his death.

Guy was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Catherine Nolan Shaw; and his brother, Robert A. Shaw.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Earnestine Coutret Shaw; sons, Guy G. Shaw III, M.D. and wife, Barbara and Robert N. Shaw and wife, Sarah; grandchildren, Adam G. and Stephen A. Shaw; nephew, Jack L. Nolan and wife, Billye; great niece, Nina Nolan; great-nephew, Jack L. Nolan Jr.; his wife's daughters, Mary Ann Schneider and husband, Don and Janet Curry and husband, Carroll; his wife's son, Steve Coutret; his wife's grandchildren, Scott Schneider and wife, Elizabeth, Katie and Taylor Throckmorton and Haley and Ashley Coutret; and great-grandchildren Bo and Margot Schneider and Autumn Throckmorton.
