Dorothy M. Ellis, 86, of La Porte City, died Thursday, June 25, 2009 at the Shell Rock Healthcare Center of natural causes. She was born November 15, 1922 in La Porte City, the daughter of Orlin and Frances Keegan Rundel. She married George C. Ellis in February of 1945 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, they were later divorced.
She worked at in the kitchen for 18 years at the La Porte City Elementary School, retiring in 1987.
Survived by: three sons, Dennis (Connie) Ellis of Austin, TX, Duane Ellis of Flagstaff, AZ, Mark (Jo Ann) Ellis of Austin, TX; two daughters, Cheryl (Bob) Magnuson of Vinton, Barbara (Tim Meeker) Ellis of Plainfield; one daughter-in-law, Sandy Linde-Ellis of Weatherford, TX; four grandchildren, Wendy Ellis of Austin, TX, Emily Magnuson of Vinton, Cody Ellis of La Porte City, Jodel Edwards of Austin, Tx and one great-grandson, Gabriel Ellis of La Porte City.
Preceded in death by: her parents; one son, James Ellis; one granddaughter, Michele Ellis and one brother, Don Rundel.
Services: will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2009 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial in the West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. and one hour before the services all at the church.
