Bobbee was born to Frances Mary (Duzik) Barzen. Her father, John Nicholas Barzen, died of a sudden heart attack only three months before her birth and she would only know her step father William Charles Krause (born Charles Grover Wilson)as a father to her. Bobbee's blended family grew up between Chicago Illinois, Gary Indiana, and Cleveland Ohio and eventually moved to Drayton Plains/Waterford Michigan where she spent her life. She attended Drayton Plains School through the 11th grade. In her younger years, Bobbee worked for a short time at Pontiac Motors. While working and living in Pontiac she lived in the same apartment complex as the famous Johnny Cash. They became friends and spent time together chatting on their porch however she would not accept a date with him because she said she was not attracted to him! Bobbee worked as a waitress, bar tender and worked private parties for numerous restaurants in the area including The Old Mill Tavern in Waterford and Edgewood Country Club in Commerce Township. Her first child was Barbara Frances Barzen who is the daughter of Ralph James Hegwood, an acquaintance she met while working at a small cafe in Drayton Plains in the early 1940's. Bobbee married Raymond Ross Mabbitt in 1943 and together they had one son, Donald Ray Mabbitt. Her marriage to Robert Frank Lawson (an accomplished piano player and entertainer in the area)in 1947 was a short one and they had no children together. Bobbee met and married Lee Frank Johnson Sr. on 25 April 1953. Together they had two children, Janet Lee Johnson and Lee Frank Johnson Jr. Bobbee and Lee were married just short of 35 years at the time of her death.
Bobbee was a volunteer mom and helped with Girl and Boy Scouts. She also was an avid bowler and was on the same ladies league at Howes Lanes in Clarkston Michigan for many years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Fraternal Order of the Eagles #2887 in Waterford Michigan. She had many friends and neighbors and was always there to lend a hand. She was loved by all who knew her. Bobbee developed emphysema as a result of her many years of cigarette smoking and spent the last several years of her life on oxygen and in and out of the hospital before her death in 1987.
