Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 8, 2005 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church for Alvina H. Czech, age 91, of Sartell, who died Wednesday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Rev. Lauren Germann will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the funeral Monday at St. Francis Xavier Church Gathering Place. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m., followed by St. Monica's Society (Christian Mothers) and Daughters of Isabella.
Arrangements were made with Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids.
Alvina H. Czech was born June 29, 1914 in Mahnoman to Frank and Sarah (Bellefeuille) Otremba. She married Samuel J. Czech on June 28, 1932 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Morrill. She has lived in the Sauk Rapids area most of her life and lived at Country Manor Assisted Living in Sartell for the past 5 years. Alvina was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, St. Catherine's Mission Group, lifetime member of Daughters of Isabella and honorary member and past president of St. Monica's Society (Christian Mothers). Alvina devoted herself to her family, living life to the fullest. She was known for her sense of humor and wit and touched the hearts of all she met.
Survivors include her children, Bob (Ardy) of Bagley, Tony (Patty) of Cold Spring, Dennis (Pearl) of Sauk Rapids, Geri (Daryl) Blais of Sauk Rapids and Kathy (Bob) Kerfeld of St. Cloud; brothers and sisters, Eliguis Otremba of Minneapolis, Idella Antonczak of St. Paul, Olive Miller, Hilaria Szyplinski and Sylvia Deppa, all of Foley; 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Samuel on June 16, 2000; infant sons, Clarence and Walter; sister, Evelyn Pekarak; 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.
