Lee was born to Beatrice Viola (Downer) Johnson and Axel Manfred Johnson at their home on Voorheis Rd in Pontiac. He attended Pontiac Schools and graduated from Pontiac High School. He enjoyed his 'Indian' motorcycle and fast vehicles as a young man. He was in the National Guard out of Gaylord Michigan and began working at Fisher Body Automobile Plant at the age of 16 where he got into a program for skilled trades. He was employed by General Motors and worked at Fisher Body in the cushion room and was quite proficient at sewing! Lee met and married Frances Roberta (Bobbee)(Barzen) on April 25, 1953. Together they had two children, Janet Lee Johnson and Lee Frank Johnson Jr. He and Bobbee lived and raised their family in Waterford Michigan. Lee was transferred to the Pontiac Motor Plant when the Fisher Body Plant in Pontiac was closed and then was moved on to the Fiero Plant in Lake Orion. He finally retired from the Lake Orion Michigan plant after 46 years of service with the automobile industry. He was an avid bowler and was a member of the Thursday night men's league at Howes Lanes in Clarkston Michigan. He was a life member of the Waterford Eagles #2887 and enjoyed traveling to monthly meetings at area lodges in his later years. He enjoyed playing pool and was a full time euchre player at clubs throughout the area and at the Eagle Lodges. Lee was quite a handy man and enjoyed doing projects not only for himself but for neighbors as well as his children and their families. Lee suffered many surgeries throughout his lifetime but was a survivor. His Parkinson's Disease took over the last several years of his life which caused his dimentia and physical problems before his death in 2003.
