JOHN RIDGEWAY DIED LAST WEEK
WAS A WELL KNOWN CITIZEN
Death Resulted From Heart Trouble At His Home in Fairbanks Township.
John Ridgeway, one of the best known citizens of this county, died at his home in Fairbanks township Friday night. Death was the result of heart trouble, with which Mr. Ridgeway had been afflicted for several years. The funeral took place Sunday at the Drake church. Rev. G. F. McNaughton conducted the funeral services. Interment was in the Pogue cemetery.
Mr. Ridgeway was a life-long resident of Sullivan county, having been born in Gill township January 13th, 1851. He was a son of Otho and Emily Ridgeway one of the pioneer families of the cuonty (sic). Mr. Ridgeway was twice married: the first time to Violet Kelly, July 30th, 1871. To them were born three children, Otho, Carsa and Harold, only one of whom, Mrs. Carsa Adams survives him.
The second wedding was to Jerusha Agnes Rose on the 24th of December, 1884. Two children, Lora and Hervey, were born to this union. They and their mother survive him. Under his care, during her childhood, was also his niece, Mrs. Sadie Drake. ....
Besides his wife and children, Mr. Ridgeway leaves his aged mother, three brothers and three sisters.
The news of Mr. Ridgeway's death reached Sullivan Saturday and was a leading topic discussed on the streets. There was probably no man in this county better acquainted than was Mr. Ridgeway. He numbered his friends by the hundreds and the fact that he had lived a just and upright life caused great regret for his death. The death was sudden and entirely unexpected. Mr. Ridgeway was talking to some men concerning a business matter when he suddenly sank back in his chair and died immediately.
