Death Claims Mrs. Harthun, Was Long Ill& Passes away - Burial made at Dora Lutheran Church, Saturday

After an illness of nearly two years, from cancer, Mrs. Caroline Harthun, passed away Wednesday night, June 3rd, at the Perham hospital, at the age of 67 years, 5 months and 9 days. She was born Dec. 24, 1888, in Germany, where she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

She was married twice, John Schwanke, being her first husband. To this union, were born six children - five boys and one girl: Emil of Dent, Henry and Willie of N. Dakota, Ernest and John of Idaho, and Mrs. Fetting (Olga) of Ada. They came to this country about 1883, and lived in Carver County, later they moved to Swanville, and to Ada, where Mr. Schwanke died, in 1902.

In the year of 1902, she moved here and was united in marriage to Mr. Fred Harthun, no children were born to this union. In the year of 1928, her second husband, Fred Harthun, died.

She leaves to mourn five sons, one daughter, four step children: Herman, John, and Mrs. Emil Harthun Schwanke, and a daughter living in the cities, one sister, and 20 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Dora Lutheran Church, Saturday afternoon. Rev. Beck, conducting the services in German and English. The pallbearers were - Robert Fick, Arnold Weegman, Ben and Oscar Demmer, and Fred Schultz. Internment was made in the Dora Lutheran Cemetery. Sincere sympathy is extended to the children in their bereavement.
