Ruth May Morrison, 100, of Cobb Island, MD passed away on June 25, 2010 at the Abbey Manor Assisted Living Facility in La Plata. Born on November 23, 1909 in Washington D.C. to the late Gustave and Maude Glotzbach, she was head accountant at the old Jelleff's department store in downtown Washington D.C. where she worked for over 40 years. After retiring to her home on Cobb Island, Ruth was active in the Holy Ghost Ladies of Charity, the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 82, the Cobb Island VFD Ladies Auxiliary, and the 5th and 6th districts Democratic Club. She also was honored for her long time service as a volunteer with the Physician's Memorial Hospital in La Plata which is now Civista Medical Center. Ruth's husband, Ernest S. Morrison, preceded her in death, as did her sister's Alice, Anna, Ida, and Evelyn, brother's Joseph, Andrew, and Francis, and nephews John Pike and Raymond Luckett. She is survived by her nephew Robert Pike of Cobb Island and many grandnephews, grandnieces, great grandnephews and great grandnieces. The family will be receiving friends at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Issue, MD from 9:30 am until time of Mass at 11 am on Saturday, July 3, 2010. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Flowers should be sent directly to the Holy Ghost Church. In lieu of flowers, contribtutions may be made in Ruth's name to the Charles County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Foundation, La Plata. Arrangements by Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, La Plata, MD.
