Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Joyce J. Lommel, age 69, of Luxemburg, will be at 10 am on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at St. Wendelin's Catholic Church in Luxemburg, MN. Joyce died on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at her home as a result of ALS. The Rev. Marvin Enneking will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Family and friends may call between 4-9 pm on Monday (TODAY) and after 9 am on Tuesday at the Mary Hall parish center in Luxemburg. St. Wendelin's Christian Women will pray at 6:00 pm tonight at the parish center followed by the parish prayers at 7 pm. Arrangements are with Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud.
Joyce was born on February 7, 1940 in Ortonville, MN to Joseph P. and Edith H. (Mohs) Kutzera. She married Marvin R. Lommel on September 23, 1961 in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waite Park.
She was employed by St. Cloud Hospital in Homecare/Hospice for 15 years. Joyce was a member of St. Anne's Christian Women, St. Wendelin's parish, the parish prayer line and served as a Eucharistic Minister. She volunteered to read for the blind at the St. Cloud State University Radio Station and at St. Wendelin's school "Success Maker" for students needing help with reading or math. She was a member of TOPP's 471.
Joyce loved to play cards and travel. Her memorable laugh will never be forgotten.
Survivors include her husband Marv, children: Keith (Erin) of Luxemburg, Laurie (Randy) Litke of St. Cloud and Mike of Luxemburg, grandchildren: Neil, Megan, and Bryana Lommel and Andrew Meyer; brothers and sisters: Joseph (Ruth) Kutzera, Jr "Butch" of MI, Chuck (Pat) Kutzera of St. Joseph, Mary Lou (Don) Blommer of Anchorage, AK, and Patricia Moulzolf of Gilman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Bryon in 1995 and sister Jane.
