Lott Tallent was a hard shell Baptist. He built a church of hand hewed logs. He would sit in the seats in his homespun clothing and large bare feet, and lead the singing. In later years the log church was used as a school and was known as the Tallent School House. It was being used as late as 1925.Lott Tallant was the husband of Rebecca (Vanderford) Tallant.
