Uncle Cliff was a lifelong resident of Greenville County, South Carolina and was the son of the late Matthew and Rebecca Cartee Owens and was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Lila Smith Owens who died in 1963. At one time Uncle Cliff and Aunt Lila made their home in Ware Shoals, South Carolina where Uncle Cliff worked for the Regal Textile Group in Ware Shoals. Later on Uncle Cliff and Aunt Lila moved backed to Greenville County, South Carolina where he worked for Monahan Mill in the City View section of Greenville County. Uncle Cliff retired in 1956 and later sold roasted peanuts. He was a member of Monahan Baptist Church. Uncle Cliff and Aunt Lila had no children.

Uncle Cliff was survived by one sister, Mrs. Clara Owens Barnett from Greenville County, South Carolina and two brothers, Robert A. Owens from Greenville and Rev. O.F. Owens from Marietta, South Carolina.

Services were held at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. with Rev. Harold Jones and Rev. Grady M. Bridwell officiating followed by internment in Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Greenwood, South Carolina.
