John Cheney, son of Moses & Abigail (Whitmore) Cheney, was born in Newton, Middlesex, Massachusetts 26 August 1740. He married 1st in Groton Middlesex, Massachusetts 6 April 1763, Susannah Farwell, daughter of Joseph & Mary (Gilson) Farwell, Jr. Susannah (Farwell) Cheney died 17 January 1776. He married 2nd Elizabeth (Betsey) Blodget; she died 26 November 1787. He married 3rd, Elizabeth Swallow, daughter of Anaziah & Elizabeth Swallow. She died in Charlestown, 6 June 1826 at the age of 66.
