Son of Richard Dale "Dick" and Ruth Virginia (Lambeth) Jones

Only child

Married Charlott Yvonne Wells on 15 October 1964 at Capitol Hill Methodist Church, Seattle, Washington.

One daughter, Jennapher "Jenna" Janae Jones born on 23 July, 1979 at Emmanuel Hospital, Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon

Dick considered Hood River, Oregon his home as he moved there just prior to his start of his freshman year in high school. He was very involved in Hood River High School, especially on the football field. He was very popular with his fellow students, graduating in 1958.

He enrolled in San Mateo Junior College, San Mateo, California, soon dropping out and joining the United States Army. Most of his military career was spent at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

Upon full filling his military obligation he returned to the Pacific Northwest and went to work in Seattle for Guy F. Atkinson Construction, a South San Francisco based operation that both his father and uncle were in the higher brackets of employment. At the time the company was doing some massive jobs in the Seattle area.

It was there that he and his wife settled down for approximately 3 and 1/2 years when the job finished and they headed south to work on the Bay Area Rapid Transit, making Hayward there home for a little over a year and a half.

Such excitement felt by them when they could leave the wild populated bay area and remove to the wonderful little country town of Sherwood, Oregon. Back home at last. It was in Sherwood that he would live the remainder of his life working on various large construction jobs in the area. Some being a huge section of the I-205 and I-5 interchange in Tualatin, Oregon, the Fremont Bridge in Portland and various section of freeway and other building.

Being for God and Country and serving in the military he became very involved in the Sherwood American Legion, serving for a period as Commander, which he had great pride in. He also served in District #1 as the Sgt. at Arms. He took on the role of every holiday putting the flags out on the streets of Sherwood. Sad as it was, when he was just a couple of months away from death from cancer he was out there with the assistance of his little 10 year old daughter making certain those flags were on the street for Labor Day. Such devotion.

His memorial service was a combination religious and American Legion rites held at the Sherwood Methodist Church. The Legion portion was conducted by Barry Snyder then adjutant for the state of Oregon and a very close friend, assisted by another Legion friend, Don Dahl.
