T.J. Highfill Born on Site Of Potter, Dies

Thomas J. Highfill, 74 years of age, a retired carpenter, died Sunday [Jan 28] morning at his home, 212 Osage street, Born April 23, 1870 at the site of Potter, Kas., he was a son of Thomas and Elvira Highfill, early residents. His marriage to Miss Bertha Kreutzer was on December 18, 1907, at Leavenworth. He was a member of the Methodist church.

Mr. Highfill is survived by his widow, Mrs. Bertha Highfill of the home address, five daughters, Mrs. Martine Piper, 617 Pawnee; Mrs. Mary Steward, Albuquerque, N.M.; Nellie Highfill and Frances Highfill, both of the home; Mrs. Warren Mollart, Yerington, Nev.; five sons, Harry Highfill, Kansas City, Kas.; Ben Highfill, Sunflower Village, Eudora; Adolph Highfill, Hirst, Ill,; T.J. Highfill, Jr., 707 Shawnee, and Norman Highfill, U.S. Army in the Pacific; one brother, Ben Highfill, Sunflower Village; two sisters, Mrs. Ashton Hundley, Atchison, and Mrs. Louis Linville, Plainview, Tex.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. -- The Leavenworth Times.

Funeral services were held Tuesday [Jan 30] morning at 10 o'clock at the Davis funeral church, Leavenworth. The Rev. John Hodge, pastor of the Easton Methodist church, officiated. Interment was in Fairview cemetery, near Potter.

Pallbearers were: Harry Highfill, Adolph Highfill, T.J. Highfill, Jr., Floyd Piper, Leo Noll, Henry Glettig.
