Ruth Virginia Lemm, 73, a longtime Lewiston-Clarkston resident, died of cancer early Thursday morning at Carol Galles Shelter Home at Clarkston.
Mrs. Lemm was a checker at McPherson Grocery at Lewiston for 26 years. She also worked at Spengler Bakery and for Mark Means, both at Lewiston, for four years.
She was born Feb. 16, 1915, at Cambridge, Md., to Martin and Emma Stewart. In 1917 the family moved to Lewiston, where she graduated from high school in 1932.
She married Norman Lemm at Asotin July 27, 1933. In 1979, they moved to Clarkston, where she had lived since.
He died June 18, 1981.
She was active in the fund drives for cancer, heart and March of Dimes and aslso served on the Lewiston election board for 16 years. She also was a member of the Parent Teacher Association for three years, served on the PTA council for one year, and was secretary at Whitman Elementary School at Lewiston.
Mrs. Lemm was an active participant in organizing her 50 year class reunion in 1982.
Survivors include a son, Marvin Lemm of Lewiston; a daughter, Carol Jean Berkeley of Salem, Ore.; a sister, Julie E. Fuchs of Clarkston; a brother, Frank Church of Vancouver, Wash.; four grandsons and two great-grandsons.
A sister, two brothers and a son died previously.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Church of the Nativity (Episcopal) at Lewiston with the Rev. Larry Harrelson officiating. Burial will follow at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens at Lewiston.
The family suggests memorials be given to St. Joseph's Family Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
